When looking at behaviour it is important to look at the whole picture. Behaviours are linked to emotion and consequence so it is important to address the underlying emotions that your dog is experiencing in order to help them.
We need to understand the emotion that is driving the unwanted behaviour, and then work on changing how your dog ‘feels’ so that we can change this behaviour, this works alongside training. The reward-based training methods used in the behaviour modification process are based on scientific study and learning theory.
Initially you will be sent a behaviour questionnaire to complete in as much detail as possible. This questionnaire will cover all aspects of your dog’s life- puppyhood, diet, exercise, training, and a detailed description of the problem. A check up with your Vet may be advised after receiving your completed questionnaire as many behaviour issues could be related to health and physical condition. A home visit, zoom call or meet up at my training base is then arranged.
After the session you will receive a personalised training and behaviour modification plan via email which will recap everything we discussed in our session.
Please be aware that changing an established behaviour takes time, patience, hard work and consistency. There is no magic wand or quick fix. When dogs are ‘cured’ on TV shows you are generally watching a heavily edited version of a much longer process.
