The Guild of Gundogs

A clear, progressive training and assessment pathway for retrievers, spaniels and HPRs.

The Guild of Gundogs has been created to give gundog owners a structured way to train, progress and understand where they are going next.

Whether you have a pet gundog and want to give them more breed appropriate enrichment, you are hoping to work your dog in a beating or picking up role, or you would like to progress towards working tests, the Guild will offer a pathway to suit you and your dog.

The grades are designed to be clear, practical and achievable, with each level building on the last. This means handlers can see what they are working towards, understand what their dog needs at each stage, and progress at a pace that feels fair and realistic.

The Guild will support Retrievers, Spaniels and HPRs, with distinct pathways depending on each dog’s breed type, strengths and the handler’s long term goals.

This is not just about passing assessments. It is about building capable, confident dogs who understand their work, enjoy their training and can use their natural ability in a thoughtful and well guided way.

The Guild of Gundogs will be launching soon, with training, assessments and future instructor led programmes to follow.
